Artist Statement

 

Ella, artist and designer behind Melbourne based Ella May Studio, is a mixed media artist painting and creating since childhood. After a lengthy absence, Ella returns with work reminiscent of hazy summer afternoons and magic filled dreams. She is back to creating more actively as she wishes to share the beauty and healing powers of art as it truly can help us in our darkest as well as our brightest moments. Themes pursued represent imagination, peace, hope and faith communicated thru colour via dynamic abstract expressions of mixed media artworks. The creative energy of what lies beneath the imagined, the unknown and the unseen, is what drives her to explore mixed media concepts allowing free expression of beauty that surrounds us. It is left to the viewer to interpret the work as each of us sees and feels something different. It is this freedom of interpretation that drives her to evoke emotion by telling stories thru art.
