WELCOME to the world of Ella May art & design!
So happy you are here!
I'm Ella, owner and designer of Ella May Studio, based in Melbourne, Australia. I offer unique, one-of-a-kind jewellery, fashion accessories, original art & home statement pieces.

I've been painting and creating since childhood - I do not remember doing anything else but art; I recall paints, paper and playing in the mud making sculptures. I have had a very long break from creating as life took some unexpected turns. Thankfully, my art was always there to help me thru hard times and for me it was the best escape and therapy in one. I am now coming back to creating more actively and I wish to share the beauty and healing powers of art as it truly can help us in our darkest as well as our brightest moments.

I find that my creative process constantly develops and evolves. The major theme pursued in my work is peace, hope and faith communicated thru the dominance of colour blue via dynamic abstract expression of mixed media artworks. Blue being the colour of hope and faith, is an essential part of our beings, from the sky above to the water below. The creative energy of what lies beneath the unknown and unseen, is what drives me to explore mixed media concepts allowing free expression of the daily life and beauty that surrounds us. It is left to the viewer to interpret the work as each of us sees and feels something different. It is this freedom of interpretation that drives me to evoke emotion by telling stories thru colour.

During the Covid I had time to reflect on life and my creative endeavours and many new ideas came to life. My wearable art and accessories range grew and it is the greatest pleasure for me to make handmade pieces that can brighten people's lives. I strive to bring my customers a variety of options that are interesting, colourful and trendy, so I hope you'll able to find the perfect piece to brighten your day or to give as a gift.

I am proud of my personal growth and that I have finally arrived at a point in my life where I have let go of preconceived notions what art & design "should look like" which gave me the freedom to create anything my imagination conjures up without fear of judgement, rejection or failure – being perfectly imperfect is ok.

This "new me" is reflected in my business name too - Ella for my nickname and "May" is me giving myself a permission to let go and create for the sake of creating anything and everything I feel like. So go on, join me & be fearless in your choice of what you wear, what art you like and how you choose to express yourself!

All products are lovingly handmade in my Melbourne studio following the concept of slow-made, earth friendly practice.

With love,
Ella
